Abstract
Salinity and acid land management will result in increased Wheatbelt areas of pasture, leading to increased livestock production; A potential increase in cattle numbers of 384 000, from the present 229 000 head is forecast; Currently, cropping enterprises are more profitable than livestock enterprises, beef enterprises are more profitable than sheep enterprises; Currently, the most profitable beef and cattle enterprises are grainfed yearling, store weaner and live export steer production;
