Abstract
The First W.A. Random Sample Laying Test commenced at the Poultry Research Station, Herdsman Lake in 1957. Every year since that date to 1975 a new test has been conducted up to the Eighteenth Test, which was the last test conducted by the Department of Agriculture. The purpose of this review is to analyse the results of the tests over the years to determine whether the breeds entered in the tests and which are available commercially in this State have made progress. However, before proceeding with the detailed analysis of the test results, an outline of the changes that have been made in the test over the years will be given.
