Abstract
Trial 90EC20, 90GE86, 90GE87, 90GE88, 90TS20, 90BA58
Effect of seed size on lupin establishment, dry weight and seed yield.
Location: East Chapman Research Station, Wooree, Allanooka, Binnu, Morawa District Agricultural High School, Badgingarra Research Station New Block.
Experiments were sown in a randomized block design with double banked plots. Plots 25 m * 1.4 m were sown with cone seeders (disc undercarriages). Three seed sources were used Badgingarra (BRS), Speechly (Casuarinas) and Cobley (Walkaway East) - see table below. Grading (G) was done using the BRS airforced gravity table. The graded (G) fraction was compared to the ungraded (UG) fraction at four sowing rates 40, 80, 120 and 180 kg/ha. Seed was tested for germination 2, electrical conductivity and major macro/micro nutrients.
Trial 90EC19, 90GE84, 90GE85
Value of the germination test in predicting lupin plant density.
Location: East Chapman Research Station, Wooree, Allanooka,
Experiments were sown in a randomized block design with double banked plots. Plots 25 m * 1.4 m were sown with cone seeders (disc undercarriages). Seed of differing germination percentages was compared both within and between lupin seed sources. Where seed was compared within a source (Merredin) seed was passed through an impact machine to achieve differing germination test levels. Seed was sown at four sowing rates 40, 80, 120 and 180 kg/ha. Seed was tested for germination electrical conductivity and major macro/micro nutrients.
Trial 90C42, 90EC21, 90GE91
Effect of lupin seed source on lupin establishment and seed yield.
Location: Chapman Research Station, East Chapman Research Station, Allanooka.
Experiments were sown in a randomized block design with double banked plots. Plots 25 m * 1.4 m were sown with cone seeders (disc undercarriages). Ten seed sources all having germination test values above 80% were compared. Seed was sown at four sowing rates 40, 80, 120 and 180 kg/ha. Seed was tested for germination X, electrical conductivity and major macro/micro nutrients.
Trial 90GE89, 90EC34
Fate of unemerged lupin seeds.
Location: Wooree, East Chapman Research Station
Experiments were sown in a randomized block design. Seed was sown with an eighteen row tined machine with 18 cm row spacings which was split for presswheels. Individual plots were replicated three times and plot dimensions were 1.6 m x 3 m to which the following treatments were applied: wetting agents, fungicide drenches, pre and post sowing irrigation, press wheels, stubble cover and sowing depth.
