Cover Picture "25 miles east of Albany is situated in an area which has an annual rainfall of over 30 inches spread over a "growing period" of 8 ¾ months. This area became the first major settlement on virgin Crown Lands to be established in the south coastal district under the War Service Land Settlement Scheme. Clearing commenced in 1949 and the original area now contains 22 farms carrying up to three sheep per acre on subterranean clover and Wimmera ryegrass pastures.."
