Abstract
The purpose of this report is to determine, through desk top statistical analysis, those countries which hold significant promise for the export expansion of the Western Australian lentil industry.
The report is comprised of five parts. 1) a brief lentil overview, 2) world lentil production and trade, 3) Australian lentil production and trade, 4) Western Australian lentil production and trade and 5) conclusions.
The first four sections identify the major producers, exporters, importers and premium markets operating in the international lentil market. The fifth section concludes by identifying six countries that warrant further in-market analysis to determine their lentil preferences and possible trade opportunities in the longer term.
