Abstract
Growth anomalies (GAs) are tumour-like diseases that have been shown to cause significant morbidity in reef-building corals such as Acropora and Porites (Aeby et al. 2011). Histopathological analysis of GAs has revealed that the anomalous tissue undergoes changes which compromise anatomical machinery for biological functions such as defense, feeding, digestion, and reproduction (Burns and Takabayashi 2011).
