Abstract
The field pea (Pisum sativum) had similar yields to lupins on the slightly acid to neutral pH soils and significantly higher yields on the alkaline soils. Because of good adaptation, the field pea is the first alternative to the lupin for wheatbelt rotations. Common vetch and faba bean were ranked next after field peas in order of seed yields.
