Abstract
The area surveyed covers approximately 47 400 square kilometres. The area is described in terms of climate, geomorphology, soils, vegetation, land zones and land systems. Condition statements are presented for each land zone, each land system and each station property within the survey area. Nineteen thousand square kilometres of the survey area is in poor condition. Areas in fair, good and excellent condition comprise 10 per cent, 11 per cent and 39 per cent respectively of the survey area.
