Abstract
A report did not foresee chemical mulesing replacing conventional mulesing, but did suggest that chemical treatment had potential for producing a permanent bare area of skin around the prepuce of male sheep, or for removing wool bearing skin from other blowfly susceptible areas. Various Australian recommendations as to the correct tail length for mulesed sheep require clarification, and there is a need for standardisation of mulesing and tail docking techniques.
