Fungal diseases of annual medics
Abstract
Trial 90A8
Effect of phoma black stem disease on yield in annual medics
Location: Avondale Research Station
To determine the yield losses from Phoma black stem disease (caused by Phoma medicaginis) in grazed swards of the three most widely grown cultivars, viz. M. polymorpha var. brevispina cvs Circle Valley, Santiago and Serena.
Trial 87AL12,
Grass clover rotations for control of subterranean clover root rot.
Location: Denmark.
To determine if complete removal of subterranean clover from a pasture for one or two seasons will result in root rot control and subsequent increased production in subterranean clovers regenerating on these areas in the following seasons.
Trial 90DN1
Effect of clover seed p level on susceptibility of damping-off/root rot.
Location: Denmark Research Block
To investigate if high seed phosphorus confers any advantages to subterranean clover at a field site where damping-off and root rot occur.
Trial 90GL17
Effect of clover seed p level on susceptibility to damping-off/root rot
Location: South Perth
To investigate if high seed phosphorus confers any advantage to subterranean clover seedlings against damping-off and root rot caused by Fusarium avenaceum, Phytophthora clandestina, Pythium irregulare and Rhizoctonia solani.
Trial 90GL18
Pathogenicity of Rhizoctonia spp. to subterranean clover.
Location: South Perth
To determine the pathogenicity of different zymogram groups of Rhizoctonia spp. to subterranean clover cv. Woogenellup growing under controlled conditions in either pasteurized potting mix or natural field soil.
Trial 90GL19
Resistance to Rhizoctonia spp. isolates in subterranean clover cultivars.
Location: Daliak, Dalkieth, Dinninup, Esperance, Geraldton, Green Range, Junee, Karridale, Larisa, Meteora, Mt. Barker, Northam, Nungarin, Seaton Park, Treeton, Trikkala or Woogenellup.
To screen subterranean clover cultivars under controlled conditions against the most pathogenic zymogram groups of Rhizoctonia.
Trial 90A7
Control of downy mildew in field peas.
The aims of this trial were (i) to test the effectiveness of the fungicide metalaxyl in controlling downy mildew; (ii) to determine the effect of delayed sowing upon the incidence of downy mildew; and (iii) to determine if downy mildew causes significant yield losses in peas.
Trial 90M10
Control of downy mildew in field peas.
The aims of this trial were (i) to test the effectiveness of the fungicide metalaxyl in controlling downy mildew; (ii) to determine the effect of delayed sowing upon the incidence of downy mildew; and (iii) to determine if downy mildew causes significant yield losses in peas.
