1. To create a reduced disease situation around the crop seed by placing surface soil from the seed row into the inter row zone.
2. to provide a more wettable, less weedy, less acidic environment for cereal seed by placing surface soil from the seed row into the inter row zone.
3. To improve seedling establishment and growth by packing the seeding rows only.
