Abstract
Trials on Salmon Gums Research Station. The trials on the research station are aimed at making the maximum use of the rainfall for cropping. On the heavy Kumarl soils the trials include fallow trials, furrow seeding trials, seeding rate and time of seeding trials, and trials assessing methods of getting the crops in as early as possible; these trials being repeated on fallow and ley Kumarl soil. On the sandy surfaced soils the trials assess methods of sowing the crops as early as possible, and checking if there are different nitrogen requirements for cereals sown by minimum tillage or mechanical methods. These sandy surfaced soils are very prone to wind erosion and thus fallowing is not feasible, and minimum tillage methods may be of benefit. Trial no: 79SG13 - Fallow trial on kumarl soil. 79SG27 - Fallow trial on kopi soil. 80SG3 - Methods of cultivation trial for cereals on kopi soils. 80SG4 - Methods of cultivation trial for cereals on fallowed kopi soils. 80SG5 - Methods of cultivation trial for cereals on kumarl soil. 80SG6 - Methods of cultivation trial for cereals on fallowed kumarl soil. 80SG7 - Methods of cultivation trial on circle valley sand. 80SG8 - Mini road trial for cereals grown on kumarl soil. 80SG9 - Mini road trial for cereals grown on fallowed kumarl soil. 80SG10 - Mini road trial for cereals grown on kopi soil. 80SG11 - Seeding rate trial for cereals grown on kumarl soil. 80SG12 - Seeding rate trial for cereals grown on fallowed kumarl soil. 80SG14 - Time of seeding trial for cereals grown on followed kumarl soil. 80SG19 - Methods of cultivation nitrogen trial for wheat on circle valley sand. 80SG33 - Old land superphosphate maintenance trial.
Trials not harvested during 1980 due to poor growth were: 79SG27, 80SG4, 80SG10.
