Abstract
Freshwater scarcity is a pressing global issue that affects people and all living organisms in different contexts, and agriculture is one of the most affected sectors. The issue is becoming more significant with unprecedented continental drying and shrinking freshwater availability (Chandanpurkar, et al., 2025). Globally this reduction in freshwater sources poses a significant challenge to not only maintaining a regular supply for a growing population but also for agriculture, both dryland and irrigated.
