Cover picture: Red-Flowered Gum (Eucalyptos ficifolia F Muell) This tree is indigenous to a number of small areas between the Bowes and Shannon Rivers in the extreme south-west of Western Australia. It is known in every continent, being highly prized for its richly-coloured blossoms which appear in large trusses. It is closely related to the common red-gum or marri and to the mountain gum of the Jarrahwood district. Hybrid forms between the red-flowered gum and the marri are common in cultivation.
