Abstract

Introducing new plants to an area may have both positive and negative effects on the environment, economy and community. To minimise the negative environmental impact of introducing new agricultural species, DPIRD conducts a risk assessment procedure based on widely accepted scientific standards. This report assesses hybrid forage, grain annual sorghum, Sudan grass (Sorghum bicolor) Annual hybrid sorghum includes a wide range of forage and grain sorghum types (e.g. Sudan grass hybrids, Grain sorghum x Sudan hybrids, Sweet sorghum hybrids, open-pollinated sweet sorghum, dual-purpose grain sorghum hybrids). They are tall, leafy, erect, tussock grasses used as annual forage or hay crops, or for grain.
