Cover picture: This Hereford cross breeder with 8-month old calf was raised at the Wongan Hills Research Station. The cattle which were set stocked at 1 breeder and calf to 4 acres received 1000 lb of cereal hay in the March-June period. An article discussing the production of 12 to 15-month “winter” baby beef which appears on p343 of this issue supplements two previous articles on beef production which appeared in the October 1967 issue of the journal.
