Abstract
Salt fed to Merino lambs on wheat diets in a feed lot was reported to cause dramatic liveweight increases in the Eastern States.
As there was conflicting evidence about the value of salt as a cereal grain supplement, Sheep and Wool Branch officers B. Beetson and R. J. Suiter set up a trial at Wongan Hills Research Station to test the value of salt and limestone supplements to wheat diets.
