Abstract
MASTITIS (sometimes called mammitis) is a term used to denote inflammation of the mammary gland. It is a common complaint among dairy cattle and this is not surprising when one considers the enormous development of this gland, the delicacy and complexity of its structure, and the fact that it is placed in a position where it is subjected to pressure from the cow's legs and liable to injury from the horns of her herd-mates and other outside sources.
