Abstract
Bran and pollard are excellent foodstuffs for inclusion in the rations fed to dairy cows. There is no justification however, for the assumption that these mill offals are essential for efficient milk production. For many years bran was readily obtainable and comparatively cheap; rightly, it was then accepted as the best supplement to use under a variety of conditions. However, there is no need for concern now that both bran and pollard are difficult to buy and costly in comparison with cereal grains.
