Abstract
The annual consumption of manufactured tobacco in Australia is in the vicinity of 44,000,000 lb. Although the public takes such an interest in the smoking of the product, very few people realise how much care and attention goes into growing the crop which satisfies their craving for a "smoke". This article has been written to give a brief summary of the production of the crop, with particular reference to the conditions which apply in Western Australia.
