Abstract
Among the many mistaken, but still popular ideas on diet is the belief that the expectant mother should "eat for two." Such a practice would, in most cases, either result in digestive upsets or lead to excessive and undesirable increases in weight. However, the demands of pregnancy are such that greater intakes of certain nutrients will be needed and these will be described in this article.
